Speaking Welsh: There are no excuses

We’re now into the final leg of our training camp here in Marbella and it has been an extremely worthwhile experience for all the coaches and the players.

The trip has offered us fantastic preparation for the season, we have worked physically, technically, tactically very hard with the group which has been good because expectations are really high.

While in Spain we trained at The Marbella Football Center and they were excellent with all their organisation of the equipment and the pitches. The hotel has also been good, the food has been excellent so really there are no excuses and it has been a good four days preparation for the season kicking in.

Training has been intense because I expect the lads to pick things up very, very quick. There are one or two older ones here and that makes it difficult with the under-23s because we have got some youth team players as well as some lads who have been in this group for 12 months so it’s all about getting the balance right.

It has been good to get everyone together, it’s important to stress on the intensity of the training and the lads have coped admirably with that as well as the heat. We have worked both on and off the field every day and I am more than happy with the way it has gone.

What’s important now though is that we learn from this experience and make sure we continue to improve in the coming days, weeks and months on the training pitch.
