On the ball : U18s prepare to host Stoke

Sunderland under-18s host Stoke City this Saturday keen to bounce back from their opening day defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the U18 Premier League.

Stoke City: Opening day round up 

The Potters began the new campaign with a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Middlesbrough at Clayton Wood Training ground last weekend.  

Having suffered three defeats in their last four matches, dating back to last season, Stoke will be eager to bounce back and find a run of form as they prepare to visit Wearside.  

Sunderland: Opening day round up 

Elliott Dickman's side were put to the sword in their opening fixture of the season as they suffered a 5-2 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers.  

Despite taking an early lead through Michael Fowler, two goals in quick succession turned the game on its head as the hosts asserted their authority.  

Adam Bale equalised for the Lads but shortly before half time Wolves regained their lead.

The hosts then netted a further two goals in the second period to run out convincing 5-2 winners.

Focus: Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka 

The Swedish youngster has settled well into life on Wearside and is now keen to follow in the foot steps of fellow countryman Joel Asoro. Mbunga-Kimpioka is a tall winger with great pace and balance. Having enjoyed an encouraging pre-season, the 16-year-old is eager to hit the ground running in the league.
