U18s: Dickman on Patterson injury

Elliott Dickman has wished Anthony Patterson a speedy recovery from his long-term injury set back.

New to the under-18s squad this term, the young stopper has risen through the academy ranks and was credited with a special recognition award at the end of last season for his fine efforts and achievements.

Unfortunately though, the youngster has been struck down in his tracks and been ruled out for a large portion of the season with a back injury.

Speaking to safc.com Dickman admitted it’s a blow for Patterson after he finally earned his place in the under-18s team following years of hard work.

"It's disappointing but the main thing is we must support him," he said. "It's important we offer him all he needs off the field.

"We have got a plan in place to help him get back but it's going to take time and he will need all the help around him, from the medical to the psychology side of things."

He continued: "He can't do too much in terms of actual training at the moment but his time will be well spent with Jordan Rowan, the under-18s analyst, looking at clips and trying to improve that way.

"We hope the time goes quick for him but we also wish him a good recovery so he comes back stronger and fitter."
