Wolverhampton Wanderers under-18s 2015-16 review

While the first half of last season was a solid one for Wolves, the second period provided one to forget for the boys from the West Midlands.

After finishing eighth in the first stage of the league, Wolves' young guns went into the group two play-offs which saw them face the likes of Middlesbrough, Leicester City, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland.

However, Wolves endured a wretched run of form and that saw them finish bottom of the group, with just one point from eight games.

Sunderland under-18s 2015-16 review

Elliott Dickman's side suffered heartache in the first stage of the 2015-16 season as they were pipped at the post in the race for fourth spot by Blackburn Rovers.

With the top four seemingly in the Lads' sights, a downturn in form saw hopes fade as they were made to settle for fifth.

The young Black Cats responded well though and lost just twice in their group two play-off games, as they finish second behind Middlesbrough. With a run of just one defeat in their final five games, Dickman will be keen to continue that kind of form this weekend

Black boots: Jack Diamond

Having been granted a taste of life in the youth team last term, Diamond is embarking on his first full campaign in Dickman's squad. A pacey winger with bags of trickery, Diamond quickly demonstrated his quality in the tail end of last season and will be an important weapon in the youth team's armoury this season.
