U21: A look ahead to final league game

Sunderland under-21s travel to the capital for their penultimate game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

The development squad sit top of the Barclays U21 Premier League, four points ahead of Manchester United in second, however crucially the Red Devils have three games in hand over them.

Ahead of the fixture, safc.com have pulled together a small guide for all you need to know about Spurs’ development squad.Season so far:

Tottenham have endured a wretched run of form in the last few months as they have recorded just two wins in their last 13 games.

With just one win in their last 10 matches - which includes six defeats – that has seen Spurs slip down the Barclays U21 Premier League to eighth.

Spurs now head into their final two homes of the season - against Sunderland and Manchester United – without a home win in the league since September.

Head Coach: Ugo Ehiogu

Former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa defender Ugo Ehiogu is currently Tottenham Hotspurs’ under-21s’ head coach.Ehiogu made more than 500 appearances at club level and won four England caps during his career.

The 43-year-old started his career at West Bromwich Albion before moving to Villa Park in 1991, where he spent nine years.

Spells at Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday followed before he ended his career at Wembley in 2012.

One To Watch: Harry Winks

The central midfielder joined Spurs’ academy in 2012 and has since enjoyed a rapid rise through their ranks.

Having made three first-team appearances, the young star has also been named among the substitutes against Liverpool, Benfica and West Bromwich Albion.

Winks is a dynamic midfielder with a great range of passing, a keen desire to get forward and a great ability to make the correct decision more often than not.
