Sunderland new boy Wayne Bridge has vowed to help drive Sunderland even further forward after checking in on Wearside.
The left-back completed a loan move from Manchester City earlier today as manager Martin O'Neill moved to boost his back line.
Bridge, 31, has more than 400 senior games under his belt for five clubs and could make his Sunderland debut, if selected, against Norwich tomorrow night.
The England international - capped 36 times by his country - has already tapped into new boss O'Neill's enthusiasm and is looking forward to making an impact.
"I'm delighted to make the move - I've met the manager and the lads and everyone seems great," he told SAFC TV.
"I'm just excited to start playing football and playing a few games. The club is on the up - the manager has come in and done very well.
"Just coming in and speaking to him, everything has been positive. I've trained with the lads and they are a great bunch who are feeling really positive.
"Hopefully I can help the club progress even more."
Bridge opted for Wearside in search of first-team football and provides valuable competition with a packed fixture schedule ahead.
The Black Cats host Norwich on Wednesday evening before facing a tough trip to Stoke on Saturday.
And the new boy admits he is thankful to O'Neill for drafting him into a squad who are in fine form and looking to push further up the Barclays Premier League table.
"This move is a great opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to future and hopefully doing well for the team here," he added.
"I'm grateful for the chance and want to go out and work hard.
"I've looked at the fixtures and this month's quite busy with a game every few days. That's going to be good for me."
Meanwhile Bridge feels his style of play will mesh well with Sunderland and O'Neill's footballing philosophy.
"I watched the last game [against Middlesbrough] and I noticed Sunderland like to counter and get forward quickly in numbers," he explained.
"I want to defend well first and foremost but I like to get forward and want to help there too.
"I will work hard for the team and want to show everyone what I've got."
