Travel Guide: Wigan

safc.com have pulled together this handy travel guide for any supporters making the trip to see Sunderland take on Wigan tomorrow.

The distance from the Stadium of Light to the DW Stadium is 153 miles, taking around 3 hours.

Here's how to get there:

By road:

Leave Sunderland by the A690 and join the A1(M) at Carrville. Stay on the A1 as far as Scotch Corner and join the A66.

After 29 miles join the A685 (signed Kirby Stephen). Pass through Kirby Stephen and carry on to Tebay where you should join the M6 at Junction 38 (head south (signed Preston) Leave the M6 at Junction 26 and pick up the A577 (Wigan Town Centre) Ormskirk Road.

After about a mile turn left into Robin Park Road, which leads to the ground. There are 2500 places at the DW's official car parks.

By train:
Wigan has 2 stations just yards from each other. Trains from North-East to Manchester connect with Wigan Wallgate, while Wigan North Western is on the North West Mainline between Crewe and Preston.

From either station walk west along Wallgate and turn into Robin's Park Road shortly after Kwik Fit. Click here for more details of train times, while for fares visit thetrainline.com.
