Arsenal is my target - Turner

Michael Turner speaks to safc.com as he nurses a swollen ankle.

Michael Turner admits he's likely to miss Saturday's game at Wigan as a result of the ankle problem he picked up against Manchester City.

Central defender Turner was injured in a challenge with Joleon Lescott and limped through to the half time break before being substituted.

The former Hull man has been receiving treatment from the club's medical staff, and while progress has been good Turner says there's still a number of questions to be answered.

He told safc.com: "Last week the ankle was very swollen, but towards the end of the week it settled down a bit and I got some rest over the weekend.

"I'm still getting pain from it, though, so hopefully it will settle down soon. There's not much more I can do at the moment except be patient and wait for it to sort itself out.

"The Arsenal game is probably the realistic target for me. It's hard to tell. It could settle down earlier or it could swell up again, it's hard to say."

Meanwhile Turner insists the challenge from Lescott was fair despite the bone-crunching collision between the two.

The two defenders clashed when sliding in for a ball which was heading out of play, with Turner coming off worst.

But he has no qualms about the tackle, saying both players had their eye on the ball.

"I thought I was ahead of him and he thought he could win the ball - it's just one of those things," he added.
