Paulo Da Silva is back on Wearside and has rejoined the Sunderland squad.
The defender is back after starring for Paraguay in the World Cup, helping his team to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.
Speaking on his return, Da Silva said: "I have had some rest and now I feel ready for the pre-season."
But he has not yet been joined by international team-mate and new signing Cristian Riveros.
Riveros remains in South America while he waits for his visa to enter the UK.
While Da Silva is back in training, it is unlikely he will face Leicester City in the club's penultimate pre-season friendly this Saturday.
