Black Cats to take on Foxes

SAFC have confirmed another pre-season friendly.

Sunderland are to travel to Leicester City's Walkers Stadium this summer as the club continues to plot its pre-season schedule ahead of the 2010-11 Barclays Premier League campaign.

The Black Cats will travel to face Nigel Pearson's side on 31st July, taking on the Foxes after returning from a dedicated training camp in Portugal.

The game will mark Sunderland's sixth friendly fixture of the summer after games against a Munster XI, Darlington, Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull City and Portuguese champions Benfica.

The sides last met at the Walkers Stadium in January 2007 when goals from Swedish midfielder Tobias Hysen and Ireland's David Connolly gave the Black Cats a 2-0 victory on their way to the Championship title and promotion to the Barclays Premier League, where they have remained since.

Leicester will continue life in the Npower Championship next season after losing by the narrowest of margins to Cardiff City in their recent play-off semi-final. The Bluebirds progressed on penalties after goalkeeper David Marshall saved brilliantly from on-loan Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn's firmly-struck spot kick.

Ticket details for this fixture will be announced shortly.
