Meyler back in the fold

David Meyler is pushing for a place in the squad after returning from a three-match ban.

David Meyler's long wait for a return from a three-match suspension is finally over.

The young Irishman has been out for exactly a month after drawing criticism from manager Steve Bruce following his late red card at Portsmouth on February 9.

His only game since has been for his country's under-21 side and now the 20-year-old will be keen to make up for lost time.

With skipper Lorik Cana suspended for the next two games, Meyler could come back into the squad for Sunday's visit of Manchester City.

Meyler has made three appearances for Sunderland so far after making his full debut at Blackburn Rovers back in December.
