Darren Bent says Kenwyne Jones' recent form is a major plus for struggling Sunderland.
Jones - once rated by John Terry as the most awkward striker to play against in the top flight - has won the fans' Star Man award in each of his last three outings and netted a crucial goal against Wigan.
The striker has now scored seven times this season and Sunderland's regular front two have plundered 23 goals between them in 2009-10.
And the big Trinidadian has won backing from his £10m strike partner, who was impressed with his displays during the draws with Wigan and Portsmouth.
"Kenwyne was great [especially] against Wigan; he played really well and showed what he's all about," Bent said in his weekly video blog on SAFC TV.
"He held the ball up well, was strong, scored a great goal and hit the post as well. It's nice to see him roaring and showing people what he can do because he is a fantastic player."
Meanwhile Bent also revealed his delight at hitting the back of the net against Pompey, ending an "agonising" run of three games without a goal.
"It was nice to get back on the goal trail after not scoring for three games. As any striker will tell you, it's agony not to score for that long," the England striker explained.
"It's nice to get back on it and I had another chance which David James saved, though obviously that game will be remembered for other reasons with three red cards and their manager getting sent to the stands."
