Bruce impressed with Hutton bow

Steve Bruce has praised new signing Alan Hutton following his debut against Wigan.

New boy Alan Hutton has made an immediate impression on boss Steve Bruce.

The Scottish international made his debut against Wigan after signing from Spurs in a deadline-busting loan deal.

Hutton, who signed for Spurs for £9m from Rangers, impressed with his marauding runs down the right and helped lay on Kenwyne Jones' vital equaliser.

"I thought he had a very good debut and obviously he'll get better the more he plays, so I'm very, very encouraged," Bruce said.

"He wants to get forward, we know that and we are not about to stop him, especially at home. He gives us a very good outlet."
