Henderson prognosis not good

Jordan Henderson could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he was stretchered off during the draw with Wigan.

Manager Steve Bruce has issued an injury update regarding young midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The 19-year-old was stretchered from the field in the second half after collapsing on his ankle while challenging for the ball in the Wigan penalty area.

Henderson was evidently in pain and Bruce says it's not looking too good at the moment for the youngster, whose ankle "has gone up like a balloon."

"It's badly twisted," he explained. "We'll take him away for scans and x-rays and all the rest of it.

"It looks like we won't be seeing him for a few weeks - if not a few months."

Henderson joins Anton Ferdinand (ankle), John Mensah (hamstring) and Kieran Richardson (calf) on the sidelines.
