Sunderland AFC stars Craig Gordon and Kieran Richardson took to the stage for questions from schoolchildren in support of Show Racism the Red Card.

The campaign which has been running for almost 14 years now, visited The Stadium of Light this week with pupils from local primary schools learning about equality and inclusion within sport.

As part of the day the pupils took part in workshops, learning about bullying in schools and how that can often spiral into worse outcomes such as racism.

The schoolchildren also had a treat of a tour around The Stadium of Light, but the real highlight of the day was the final question and answer session with Sunderland AFC legends past and present.

Joining Kieran Richardson and Craig Gordon on the stage was Gary Bennett, Dick Malone and Jimmy Montgomery, all of whom have pledged their support to the campaign.

Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon said: "It's fantastic to be able to help educate children about such an important issue in football and day to day life. The pupils have been fantastic and shown a great understanding as well as asking some tough questions."

Show Racism The Red Card is an anti-racist educational charity. They aim to combat racism through enabling role models, who are predominately but not exclusively footballers, to present an anti-racist message to young people and others.
