The language barrier certainly didn't obscure Paulo Da Silva's delight at notching up a home win over Arsenal.

Da Silva's still getting to grips with the English language but is making great strides on the pitch as he put in another solid performance at the back.

The Paraguayan international captain dealt assuredly with everything Arsenal threw at him to shut out a team who have already netted 36 league goals in just 12 games.

Da Silva certainly seems to be enjoying his football and settling in well following a summer move from Mexican outfit Toluca - and he says the win over the Gunners was his best yet in a Sunderland shirt.

"The game was good, very important win today for us," he told safc.com.  "There was a lot of passion and I am very happy for my team-mates and for the fans.

"This is a big win for us and every player played well.  I want to play in every game.  It is fantastic to play in the Stadium of Light.  I am enjoying things here.

"Arsenal are a good team, but we played well and deserved the points."
