Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole is responding well to treatment on a foot problem, according to manager Steve Bruce.
Cattermole, 21, struggled through the games against Wolves and Manchester United and was substituted in both games.
The former Wigan man was subsequently ruled out of the England Under-21 squad and has been receiving treatment at the Academy of Light.
But he seems to be making good progress according to Bruce, who expects the Liverpool midfielder to be fit to face Liverpool on Saturday.
Cattermole has made seven appearances for Sunderland since following Bruce from Wigan in the summer for a fee of £6m.
