Sunderland manager Steve Bruce feels new signing Lorik Cana has got everything it takes to become a huge hit on Wearside.
Bruce parted with a fee in excess of £5million to lure Cana from Marseille, where he was the Ligue 1 side's skipper. He had previously played for Paris St-Germain.
The 25-year-old penned a four-year deal today and Bruce was delighted to finally land his man - a player he feels is of international calibre.
"It's been going on over the last ten days and we're delighted it's gone through," revealed Bruce, who has also signed Fraizer Campbell and Paulo da Silva so far this summer.
"He was the captain of Marseille, one of the big, big clubs in Europe. Getting their captain is a wonderful coup for us.
"I'm delighted we've got him and he brings that real competitive edge in midfield which we need in the Premier League.
"He's certainly a leader, that's for sure. He's proven himself.
"I had the fortune of seeing him play a couple of times, particularly against Liverpool in the Champions' League last year where he was excellent in both games.
"He'll be a great signing for us, I'm sure of that."
