Stars excited for SoL show.
British hip hop act, Rizzle Kicks, are hoping to “skip to the good bit” when they perform in the North East later this month.
The duo, who have stormed the charts with hits including Mama Do the Hump, Down With the Trumpets and Skip to the Good Bit, will be appearing at blinkbox music North East Live at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on Sunday June 22 – and singer Harley Alexander-Sule can’t wait.
He said: “I’ve only been to the Stadium of Light once, to watch football, but four of my friends are Sunderland fans so I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for it already.
“I feel like the crowd in the North East is pretty spot on, too. I don’t think we’ve ever played in Sunderland before but I know Northerners are always raring to go and we can’t wait to get on stage.”
The pop extravaganza, which is being headlined by Jessie J, will also feature performances by the Saturdays, Katy B, Jason Derulo, The Vamps, Union J, Austin Mahone, Neon Jungle and Rixton - and Harley is looking forward to catching up with a couple of the acts in particular.
He said: “We love Jason Derulo and Katy B is really nice, too. We’d also like to write a song for The Vamps. Our styles are a bit too different to collaborate on a song, but I think they’ve got a good vibe and I’d love to write for them.”
Blinkbox music North East Live, organised by SAFC and AEG Live, is open to all ages. Doors will open at noon, with teen sensation Austin Mahone kicking off the gig at 1.20pm. Headline act Jessie will close the show which is set finish at approximately 9.45pm.
Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director at SAFC, said: “North East Live is now just a couple of weeks away and it’s great to hear that Rizzle Kicks are just as excited as we are.”
