Manager thrilled to secure midfielder's services.
Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill is delighted that Stephane Sessegnon has signed a contract extension at the Stadium of Light.
The Benin playmaker put pen to paper on a new deal earlier today and O’Neill admits that securing the midfielder’s services is just as important as any other signing he has made this summer.
Sessegnon has signed a contract extension with the club, which will keep him at the Stadium of Light until 2015.
The former Paris Saint Germain star arrived on Wearside 18 months ago where he became an instant hit with Black Cats fans.
The Benin International was named as the club’s official Player of the Season last year after topping the goal scoring charts.
Following the announcement, O’Neill told safc.com: “I’m very pleased that Stephane has extended his contract.”
“Maybe in the light of some of the players who’ve come into the football club just recently, he might have had a look at that, I don’t know.
“I’m just very, very pleased Stephane has signed because he is a very talented player.
“We’re delighted to keep him.”
