We take a closer look at the career of Sunderland's deadline-day signing.

- Born in Bentivoglio, Italy on 29 March, 1991.

- He began his youth career with Bologna, the club he supported as a boy.

- Borini signed for Chelsea’s youth team in 2007.

- Starred for the Blues’ reserve side including five goals against West Bromwich Albion to lead his side to a 5-4 victory.

- He made his Chelsea debut in September 2009 in a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.

- After making eight appearances over the course of the 2009-10 season, Borini joined Swansea City, then in the Championship, on loan.

- Fabio scored six goals in 12 games at the Liberty Stadium under Brendan Rodgers before he made a permanent switch to Serie A side Parma.

- Shortly afterwards, he joined AS Roma.

- He scored ten goals in 26 games in his sole season at the Stadio Olimpico before he become Rodgers’ first signing as Liverpool boss.

- The Italian scored on his Anfield debut in a 3-0 victory over FC Gomel in the UEFA Europa League.

- He has been capped once at senior level by Italy as Jozy Altidore’s USA side beat the Azzurri 1-0.

- Fabio was recently voted into the UEFA U21 European Championships Team of the Tournament after leading Italy to the final.
