Young keeper ready for U19 tournament.

Jordan Pickford has travelled with the England U19 squad to Belgium as Noel Blake’s side prepare for the Elite Round of the UEFA U19 European Championship.

The 19-year-old stopper, who has been capped six times at under-19 level, will hope to be involved as England play Georgia, hosts Belgium and Scotland in their three qualification matches.

England’s first game is against Georgia tomorrow (Friday) before the young Lions play the hosts on the Sunday and finally Scotland three days later.

Pickford, who spent the final two months of the season on loan at Alfreton Town, will be looking progress to the final stages of the tournament after topping their qualifying group back in October.

England recorded wins over both Estonia and the Faroe Islands before a draw with Ukraine confirmed their place at the top of the standings.

Blake’s side go into the tournament unbeaten in six games, keeping four clean sheets in the process.
