Early Campbell goal tees up home win.
Sunderland 3 Norwich City 0
01 February 2012
Goals from Fraizer Campbell, Stephane Sessegnon and a Daniel Ayala own goal ended Norwich’s six-game Barclays Premier League unbeaten run.
Sunderland’s revival under Martin O’Neill continued as the Black Cats extended their winning run to three at the Stadium of Light.
Campbell put Sunderland ahead in magnificent fashion on 21 minutes, controlling a high ball neatly and unleashing a fabulous shot that soared over John Ruddy into the corner of the net.
Sessegnon doubled the Black Cats advantage on the half-hour, the Benin international nutmegged Bradley Johnson in the centre circle, sprayed the ball wide to Campbell on the right flank, then darted into the six-yard box to head home the inviting first-time cross.
The hosts made it 3-0 on the hour mark as Phil Bardsley’s cross-shot was deflected in by Ayala to round off the scoring.
