Defender extends deal on Wearside.
Sunderland defender John Egan has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension.
The Republic of Ireland U21 international came through the club’s youth system and turned professional in summer 2011.
He made his first-team debut during last summer’s trip to South Korea and has been included in senior squads for Barclays Premier League games.
The physical defender has also had a taste of first-team football during loan spells at Derby County, Crystal Palace and Bradford City.
Egan’s spell with the Bantams was cut short by a broken leg back in November.
