James ready to put hard work to the test against Spurs.
James McClean says the players are ready to go after three weeks of intense preparations.
Sunderland will play their first ever Barclays Asia Trophy game against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday (11am BST) and they are no stranger to their Hong Kong opponents.
“We played Spurs on the last game of the season,” McClean said, “so we know what they’re all about and what they have to offer.
“It’s good to get a pre-season test against Premier League opposition after the two games we played in Italy.”
Andres Villas Boas’ men provide the first test for Paolo Di Canio’s side, before a game with either Manchester City or South China on Saturday.
McClean added: “They are only friendly games but it’s a good chance to put our hard work to the test and see where we are at.
“Hopefully we can put on a good performance.”
