Midfielder heads to south coast on loan.
Sunderland midfielder Adam Reed has joined Portsmouth on loan.
Reed’s loan spell will begin this Saturday and he will remain at Fratton Park for a month.
The Academy product, who is captain of the Black Cats' under-21 side, joins a Pompey outfit fighting against relegation from Npower League One.
Reed, 21, has previously spent time on loan at Brentford, Bradford City and Leyton Orient.
He made a combined total of 15 appearances for Bradford and Orient last season.
Pompey's caretaker manager, Guy Whittingham, told the club's official website: “Adam comes highly recommended by Kevin Ball, has played at this level before and will bring us plenty of energy."
