Egyptian returns to Wearside.
Martin O’Neill has opted to recall winger Ahmed Elmohamady from his loan spell at Hull City.
Elmohamady had a productive spell with the Tigers, who are pushing for automatic promotion from the Npower Championship.
After joining City in September 2012, the 25-year-old went on to make 23 appearances for the club, scoring once.
He has played one game for Sunderland this season – appearing as a substitute during the 0-0 draw at Arsenal on the opening day of the campaign.
