Carlos ruled out and Danny a doubt ahead of weekend.

Sunderland will be without Carlos Cuellar when West Ham United visit the Stadium of Light this Saturday.

The defender picked up an injury in the FA Cup with Budweiser game against Bolton and will not be fit enough to play at the weekend.

Martin O’Neill is also waiting on Danny Rose who picked up a knock at the Reebok Stadium.

Looking ahead to the game, O’Neill told safc.com: “Carlos Cuellar is out injured, that leaves a problem at centre-back as Titus [Bramble] and Matt [Kilgallon] are the only fit players.

“John O’Shea has done some light training this week but it’s too early to say if he could be involved at all against West Ham.

“Phil [Bardsley] deputised in defence against Bolton.

“We’ll have to shuffle things around and see what works.”
