O’Neill delighted as striker hits milestone.
Steven Fletcher’s first half brace in Sunderland’s win at Wigan Athletic saw the striker become the first Sunderland player to notch ten goals in a season since Asamoah Gyan in the 2010-11 campaign.
The Scottish international has been a revelation since moving to Sunderland from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer and his form in front of goal has been the difference maker for the Martin O’Neill’s side this season.
Speaking about the hitman, O’Neill said: “Steven Fletcher has been fantastic and he’s scored some fantastic goals for us.
“That’s his 10th goal of the season. He’s been an excellent centre forward for us.”
