Striker scores for England U21 after coming on as sub.
Connor Wickham scored his fourth goal in five games for England under-21’s as Stuart Pearce’s side recorded their seventh successive victory.
Wickham headed Henri Lansbury’s cross home 13 minutes from time to help the young Lions to a 4-0 victory over Sweden at Walsall FC.
Two goals from Blackpool’s Thomas Ince either side of Liverpool youngster Jonjo Shelvey’s effort set the tone for another successful night for the under-21’s.
Having replaced Arsenal’s Benik Afobe on half-time, Wickham was keen to impress and crossed for Ince, who would have had his hat-trick but for a great save from Swedish keeper August Stromberg.
A fine save from Jordan Pickford helped England’s under-19’s on their way to a 3-1 victory over Denmark in Doncaster.
Pickford pulled off a wonderful save with the score at 1-1 as he tipped Christian Norgaard’s powerful low effort onto the post.
Two goals from Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom and a goal from his replacement, Reading’s Dominic Samuel, gave Noel Blake’s side a win which extends their unbeaten run to five games as they prepare for the Euro Elite Qualifiers in May.
