Danny Graham is determined to make an impression amongst what he feels is already a strong attacking line-up.

The £5m signing has boosted Martin O’Neill’s striking options, with the boss keen to provide more support for top scorer Steven Fletcher.

Graham is looking forward to teaming up with Fletcher and the pair boast 17 goals between them already this season.

But he knows hard work is the only way he is going to establish himself as a first-team regular.

“Fletcher’s come in and been a breath of fresh air,” Graham said.

“He’s scored a number of goals and probably repaid most of his transfer fee already.

“We’ve got Sessegnon in behind and Connor Wickham too.

“There’s places up for grabs and I will be working hard on the training ground to show the manager what I’m about.”

Graham, who will be hoping to make an immediate debut against Reading this weekend, is also looking forward to building up an understanding with Sunderland’s wide men.

“As a striker you thrive on service from the wingers,” he said. “Players like [Adam] Johnson, [Seb] Larsson and [James McClean] will provide plenty of ammo.

“I’ll be looking to get into the box as often as I can and get on the end of some deliveries.”
