Striker on scoresheet in 6-0 win over Scotland.
Sunderland striker Connor Wickham was one of six scorers for England U21’s as the Three Lions defeated Scotland at Bramall Lane.
Under the watchful eye of head coach Roy Hodgson, Wickham bagged the third goal for England after Norwich City’s Nathan Redmond and Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling had given the hosts the lead.
Everton’s Ross Barkley, Swansea City’s Jonjo Shelvey and Tottenham’s Tom Carroll added the other goals in a dominant performance.
Wickham was the provider for Sterling’s goal before he exquisitely lobbed Scotland keeper Jordan Archer after his attempted throw hit a body on the edge of a crowded area and looped into the path of the former Ipswich striker.
Hodgson will have been impressed with Wickham’s performance as he teed up Barkley to add a fourth before being substituted after a valuable 58 minutes.
