Pickford and youngster Burke called up.

Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been named in the England under-19 squad for the upcoming European Championships preliminary qualifying tournament.

The first-year professional will travel with the young Lions to Estonia next week, where England will face the hosts on September 26.

They will then face Ukraine on October 1 with the top two sides in each group, plus the best third-placed nation, qualifying for the Elite Qualifying Round next year.

Meanwhile, youth-team keeper Peter Burke has been named in the Republic of Ireland’s squad for the under-17 European Championships qualifying competition.

The stopper, who began his scholarship in July, will travel to Macedonia for games against Sweden (September 29) and the hosts (October 1).
