Cuellar is a well-known advocate of social media and has more than 200,000 followers on Twitter.
He watched both of last year’s derby clashes from afar and can’t wait to be an active participant if selected this weekend.
“The game is very special and very important and I have already felt that,” he said.
“On the internet, Twitter, Facebook, everyone has been saying how much they are looking at that game.
“In terms of preparation everyone will be excited and training hard. We must go out and enjoy it.
“I watched the games on TV last year and you can see and feel how important it is for the clubs and supporters.”
Both sides have enjoyed solid starts to the season, with Sunderland piecing together a seven-game unbeaten run before slipping to defeat at Manchester City last time out.
But Cuellar says the Black Cats have moved on following the loss to the champions.
“We are strong and the confidence and fitness levels are high,” he said. “Everyone is prepared.
“I think the beginning of the season was good for us. Just because we lost to Manchester City, confidence is not down.
“We still have to work hard and concentrate throughout the game to make the most of our opportunity.”
