Joyce links up with Championship club.

Former Black Cat Wade Joyce has joined Championship side Barnsley on a six-month deal.

Joyce, who played four games for Sunderland's development squad last season, will begin his life in Yorkshire in the Tykes’ under-21s.

Born in Liverpool, the midfielder graduated from Bury’s youth system and moved to Wearside in summer 2012 before becoming a free agent.

The midfielder will look to impress Barnsley manager David Flitcroft in pre-season ahead of the new campaign.

The 18-year-old told barnsleyfc.co.uk, “I’m buzzing to be here and just pleased to be given a chance; I want to impress and maybe get a longer deal.

“I like to think I’m a hard-working player and I like to get up and down the pitch; I won’t shirk a challenge and I’m going to give it my all whilst here and then we’ll see what happens.”
