Youngsters recognised at awards dinner.

Two Sunderland-bound youngsters have been honoured at the Republic of Ireland’s annual awards ceremony.

Goalkeeper James Talbot, who has agreed to join the club in the summer, won the Schoolboy of the Year award at the FAI Dinner, held in Dublin last Sunday.

Dan Casey – another player bound for Sunderland’s Academy of Light – finished in the top three.

The pair are both looking forward to joining the club’s Academy having been identified by the club’s scouts.

Talbot, who currently plays for Home Farm FC, will join the club as an under-18 in the summer, while Casey is set to join in summer 2014.

They will follow in the footsteps of fellow Irishmen Peter Burke and Steven McCarthy, who both joined Sunderland prior to the start of the 2012-13 season.
