Development squad named ahead of Britannia trip.

Defender Phil Bardsley is set for another run-out for Sunderland’s development squad this evening.

The Black Cats travel to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City (KO 7pm) with Bardsley included in a 16-man squad.

The former Manchester United man played 45 minutes in a 2-1 friendly win over Middlesbrough last week as he continues to build his fitness after returning from injury.

Bardsley, who needs just four appearances to reach the 150 mark for the club, has not played a senior game this season.

The development squad's 0-0 draw with Manchester United last weekend was their third in succession.

Meanwhile, Stoke sit bottom of Group 2 of the Barclays U21 Premier League having won one and lost four of their five games so far.
