U18 striker enjoying goal-filled start to season.
Sunderland youngster Mikael Mandron is proving sharp in front of goal in the Barclays U18 Premier League this season.
The tall striker netted a double in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa last weekend to take his tally to nine strikes in eight league appearances.
Mandron has registered two goals in a game on three occasions in the league and has only been held off the scoresheet twice, against Southampton and Manchester United.
Mandron joined Sunderland in summer 2011, making the move across the English channel having grown up and played his junior football just outside Paris.
The French youngster in is the second year of his scholarship at the Academy of Light and scored eight goals in 22 appearances during his first season.
He also broke into the second string last term, scoring one goal in four appearances.
The young Black Cats are going well in Group 2 of the Barclays U18 Premier League, climbing to third courtesy of the win over Villa.
The youngsters have banked 12 points from eight games so far and make the short trip to Tyneside this weekend to face near neighbours Newcastle United.
The two sides last met back in mid-September, with Sunderland running out 4-2 winners thanks to goals from Mandron (2), Martin Smith and George Honeyman.
