Mick McCarthy's side clinch the title at Upton Park in 2005.
29 April 2005
Sunderland clinched the Championship title after beating play-off chasing West Ham courtesy of Stephen Elliott's late winner at Upton Park.
The Hammers took the lead just before half time when Marlon Harewood lashed in a left-foot shot.
But Julio Arca scrambled in from close range for Sunderland who extended their unbeaten away record to six games.
And, Elliott won it for the Black Cats late on leaving West Ham needing a win on the last day to secure a play-off place.
