Black Cats move third with home win.
2nd November 2004
Sunderland overturned a 1-0 half-time deficit to beat Wolves 3-1 at the Stadium of Light and extend their winning run to three.
Liam Lawrence’s doubled coupled with Stephen Elliott’s second-half strike sent the Black Cats third in the Championship after Kenny Miller had opened the scoring for the visitors.
Wanderers took the lead after just 18 minutes when Miller collected Mikkel Bischoff's pass and curled an excellent shot past Thomas Myhre in the Sunderland goal.
Sunderland battled to find an equaliser but it looked to be evading them until the hour mark when Lawrence’s crisply-struck drive met the corner of the net for 1-1.
Elliott put Sunderland ahead 20 minutes from time; he grabbed his seventh goal of the season when his shot crashed in off the underside of the bar.
The Black Cats’ lead was trebled in the 80th minute as Lawrence converted his second from Julio Arca’s fine cross.
