Bid on special SAFC memorabilia for charity.

Sports fans are being given a chance to get their hands of a piece of history, with a very special memorabilia auction.

Items on offer include football boots signed by SAFC players John O’Shea, David Vaughan, Craig Gardner and James McClean, along with shirts signed by the whole 2012-13 SAFC squad.  An athletics top signed by Team USA Olympic medallists and a boxing glove signed by Sunderland-born Olympic medallist Tony Jefferies are aalso among some of the fantastic items up for grabs.

Foundation of Light, the registered charity of Sunderland AFC, has launched the online auction through eBay, to raise funds for its ground-breaking work in North East communities.

Lesley Spuhler, Foundation of Light CEO said: “We’ve got some fantastic items up for grabs in our end of season auction.  SAFC fans and sports fans in general, have a great opportunity to get their hands on some truly unique memorabilia, while supporting their local community.

“I’d like to express my extreme gratitude to all of the staff and players at Sunderland AFC for their substantial support throughout the 2012-13 campaign. It is through this continued support that we’re able to make such a difference to our local community.”

Bidding on all auction items ends on Sunday 9 June.

The Foundation of Light is the registered charity of Sunderland AFC which works with more than 42,000 people every year.

The organisation uses the power of football to inspire, involve and educate children, families and adults across the North East through programmes that can improve their lives.

Structurally and financially independent from the football club, the organisation relies on fundraising for 90% of project costs.
