JLS, The Wanted, Rita Ora, Little Mix, Lawson, Conor Maynard, Stooshe, Union J, Amelia Lily and more take to the stage in a one-off festival of music at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.

Sunderland’s Stadium of Light is set to host the North East’s biggest ever pop show, as AEG Live brings a phenomenal summer music event to the region.

Some of the UK’s biggest and best loved pop acts will join forces in a celebration of UK music, taking to the stage in the ‘North East Live’ event headlined by top boy band, JLS.  The Wanted, Rita Ora, Little Mix, Lawson, Conor Maynard, Stooshe, Union J, Amelia Lily and more complete the one-off line-up, in what is set to be the hottest music ticket of the summer.

The family-friendly music extravaganza, designed to suit music fans of all ages, will take place on Saturday 22 June, capping off a stunning month of live music at the Stadium of Light following on from the visits of music giants Bon Jovi and Rihanna.

With five acts currently in the Official UK top 40 in the line up and some of the UK’s biggest selling pop artists, the show is set to wow regional music lovers, while showcasing two great acts with North East connections  - Little Mix and Amelia Lily.

Demand for tickets, which are priced from just £25, is expected to be huge and tickets set to go on sale from 9am on Friday 8 February (see below for full ticket information).

SAFC commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “This is a change from the type of music event the Stadium of Light has staged previously and it’s a really exciting development for us. It’s a brilliant line up and one that I’m sure will appeal to a wide audience.

“The tremendous work of Sunderland City Council has made this possible, along with support from a range of partners across the region. We’re delighted to be working with AEG on this event and to be playing a key role in bringing the best music events to the North East as well as showcasing our own regional talent.

“We’ve already seen that there is a huge demand for live music here in the region and this multi-artist event has something for everyone, at an affordable price for a great day’s entertainment.”

Doors open from 1pm with a funfair, fun family-friendly activities and music, with the main show commencing at 2pm.

Rob Hallet, President of Touring at AEG Live said:  “‘Sunderland AFC has proved to be fantastic
pro- active partners and I look forward to working with them for many years to come.

“We hope North East Live will become a permanent fixture in the Stadium of Light calendar. We would like to thank Sunderland AFC and its Board of Directors, the city council and all regional partners for making this event possible."
