Ladies take on Leeds

by Ashley Houghton

Mulhern’s side face rivals on Sunday.

Sunderland’s ladies travel to Leeds United on Sunday looking for a fifth consecutive win.

The Lady Black Cats are yet to be beaten in the 2012-13 season and a win against one of their closest rivals would extend their lead at the top of the table to four points.

Sunderland are on a high following a derby victory last weekend as they ran out 6-1 winners at Middlesbrough.

The hosts lie third in the Women’s Premier League, trailing Mick Mulhern’s side by five points despite playing two more games than the Black Cats.

The sides have met nine times in the past three seasons and Sunderland have come out on top on six occasions, while there has also been three draws.

Kick-off at Throstle Nest is 2pm.
