Prmoters bowled over by response to tour announcement.
The pre-sale of tickets for next summer’s Rihanna concert at the Stadium of Light has now ended and promoters Live Nation have been bowled over by the initial response to the tour’s announcement.
The R&B pop sensation will head to Wearside on Thursday 20 June as part of her global ‘Diamonds’ tour and ticket hotlines and websites have experienced phenomenal demand for tickets and hospitality packages for the spectacular show.
Rihanna, who’s new album ‘Unapologetic’ launches worldwide today, jets into London tonight as part of her whistle-stop “777 Tour”, which sees fans and media flying onboard a Boeing 777 with the superstar, as she performs seven shows in seven days in seven different countries.
She has so far visited Mexico City, Stockholm, Paris and Berlin. Following the London gig she jet out to New York before finishing the “777 tour “in Detroit.
Vice President of Music a Live Nation, Steve Homer, said: “The album and ticket pre-sale has been incredibly strong and her fans in the north east have shown Rihanna how much she means to them. She will be in the UK for the on-sale on Tuesday and is very excited by the support of her fans.”
Sunderland AFC’s commercial director Gary Hutchinson added: “The Stadium of Light show is one of only three stadium performances on the UK leg of the ‘Diamonds’ tour and with the other two being Twickenham in London and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, there’s a huge geographical spread for us to pick up on in terms of ticket sales.
“Early indications show that this could be set to be the biggest concert we’ve ever staged at the Stadium of Light, which is fantastic news for the City of Sunderland and the region as a whole.”
Tickets are now off sale until tomorrow (Tuesday 20 November) and will go back on sale from 9am (see below for full details).
Fans can still purchase hospitality packages, however demand has been exceptionally high and remaining places are now limited. Gold, Platinum and Diamond packages are on offer, ranging from informal options in the Black Cats Bar and Quinn’s Sports Bar, through to private executive boxes and the top of the range Diamond Package in the Stadium of Light’s top suites.
Prices start from £160 per person (+VAT) which include some of the best seats in the house. Call 0871 911 1555 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to make a booking.
