Coaching the coaches

by Foundation of Light

New dates for grassroots football clinics.

The Foundation of Light has announced details of their next 'Coaching the Coaches' clinic designed to help grassroots coaches improve the standard of play at their clubs.

Taking place at Farringdon Sports College on Friday 16th November from 6pm to 9pm, the clinic will be delivered by Academy Assistant Head of Foundation Phase 8-11s Jamie Wright.

The clinic, focusing on how to structure a session effectively for Under 7’s and 8’s, will be a combination of theory and practical work, offering attendees the opportunity to learn specific skills and see those skills put into practice.

Places cost just £10 and can be booked by contacting Lynn Cuthbertson on 0191 5515315 or email

Speaking ahead of the event, Jamie Wright, who is also the Foundation of Light’s Head of Football Development, said: "I’m very proud to be leading the coaches’ workshop next Friday and plan to cover practical strategies that those attending can put into practice easily and effectively.

Regardless of whether you’re an experienced coach or just starting out we design these workshops so that there’s something for everyone and welcome coaches from all backgrounds.”

The Foundation of Light's Football Coaching Department offers player pathways from in-school coaching and after-school clubs, through to Elite clubs, development centres and Sunderland AFC's Academy.

The ‘Coaching the Coaches’ initiative aims to grant grassroots coaches access to some of the country’s top coaching talent to help them improve their players’ skills and enjoyment of football.
