Charity calls on local businesses

Get involved as a Corporate Member.

Become a corporate member of the Foundation of Light and get invites to exclusive events.

The Foundation of Light is now signing up Corporate Members for the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League Season.

Corporate Membership costs just £250 +VAT and grants members exclusive access to Foundation of Light events including Manager's Team Talk, a lunch event where members will get to take part in a question and answer session with Black Cats manager Martin O'Neill.

Manager's Team Talk is expected to take place in August this year and is one of only two scheduled public Q and A sessions with Martin O'Neill this season.

Only businesses who have signed up to the Corporate Membership scheme prior to the event will be invited to attend.

Foundation of Light, the registered charity of Sunderland AFC, is one of the largest and most developed football foundations worldwide engaging with more than 42,000 children and adults last year.

Structurally and financially independent of the football club the Foundation relies on fundraising from a variety of sources including the Corporate Membership scheme.

Speaking about the scheme Foundation Corporate Member Derek Freeman, Managing Director at independent training provider Milltech ltd, said:

"The Corporate Membership scheme is a great way for us to support the Foundation of Light and, by extension, the people of Sunderland.

"As a Sunderland based business it's important for us to contribute to our community but what is great about the Foundation is that we can see the charity's work in action and the evidence of our contribution.

"There is a mutual involvement, a true connection, between Corporate Members, the Foundation of Light and the Sunderland community which gives the scheme real value to us."

This year the Foundation of Light have also launch a referral scheme in an attempt to increase the number of Corporate Members from 100 to 200.

Any existing Corporate Member who introduces another business that also signs up will be entered into a prize draw to receive a visit from a Sunderland AFC player to a workplace, school or charity of their choice.

The referred business must sign up to the Corporate Membership scheme before 5pm on Friday 17th August for the referring member to be entered into the draw.

Lesley Spuhler, Foundation of Light Chief Executive commented:

"Our Corporate Membership scheme has been very successful for us over the years but this season we'd like to get even more companies involved in helping improve life for everyone within the region.

"The people of Sunderland and its surrounding area have a great community spirit. We need them to act upon it and for businesses to sign up for Corporate Membership so that we can continue to provide programmes that help transform local lives."

"Thanks to Sunderland AFC we have a great incentive for those wanting to get involved and we look forward to hearing from renewing Members as well as new businesses signing up for the first time."
