Cats snap up midfielder.Sunderland have completed the signing of French midfielder Alfred N’Diaye after he agreed personal terms and passed a medical. Once Sunderland and Bursaspor agreed a fee, the deal was always likely.
The 22 year old has signed a three and a half year deal which will keep him at Sunderland until the summer of 2016. He could make his debut on Saturday against fellow mid table out fit West Ham.
The midfielder, who can also play in defence, is Sunderland’s first signing of the January window.
The new Sunderland number 4 began his career with French side Nancy in 2008 and in three years he made 61 appearances before moving to Turkish side Bursaspor in July 2011. He made 37 appearances and managed to find the net three times.
Overall he has made 31 appearances for his national side at U17, U19, U20 and U21 levels but is yet to gain a senior cap.
The 6ft 2in tough tackler will add some steel to Sunderland’s depleted ranks and manager Martin O’Neill is delighted at the signing. “He’s a player I’ve been monitoring for some time. I went out to see him a couple of days before the summer transfer deadline when Bursaspor were involved in the Europa league. It gave me an opportunity to look at him then and of course I’ve been monitoring him ever since.”With David Meyler leaving for Hull and Blair Adams extending his loan for another month at Coventry, it looks like the Frenchman could make his debut on Saturday.
