Coaching the coaches

Foundation of Light confirm new event.

The Foundation of Light has announced details of their next 'Coaching the Coaches' clinic designed to help grassroots coaches improve the standard of play at their clubs.

Taking place at Farringdon Sports College on Friday 14th September from 6pm to 9pm, the clinic will be delivered by Sunderland AFC’s Head of Coaching Elliott Dickman and the Foundation’s Head of Football Development Jamie Wright.

Elliott obviously has a wealth of experience at the top level of youth coaching but he’ll be covering techniques and principles that can impact on teams at all levels

- Jamie Wright, Foundation of Light Head of Development

The session will be a combination of theory and practical work, offering attendees the opportunity to learn specific skills and then see those skills put into practice.

Places at the clinic cost just £10 and can be booked by contacting Lynn Cuthbertson on 0191 5515315 or email lynn.cuthbertson@safc.com.

Speaking ahead of the event, Jamie Wright said: "The Foundation of Light is actively committed to the development of grassroots football in the North East and these workshops are a major part of that.

"Our guest coaches bring something different to each session they attend, and Elliott will bring his considerable experience to the clinic and provide a unique insight into the coaching of young players at a professional football club.”

“Elliott obviously has a wealth of experience at the top level of youth coaching but he’ll be covering techniques and principles that can impact on teams at all levels.”

The Foundation of Light's Football Coaching Department offers player pathways from in-school coaching and after-school clubs, through to Elite clubs, development centres and Sunderland AFC's Academy.

The ‘Coaching the Coaches’ initiative aims to grant grassroots coaches access to some of the country’s top coaching talent to help them improve their players’ skills and enjoyment of football.
