Trade and Investment shoot for Ireland

Great opportunity for north-east businesses.

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), in association with the Foundation of Light, are offering local North East companies an exciting opportunity to meet business partners and potential clients in one of the world's largest export markets.

Taking place in Dublin between Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th July 2012, the Shoot for Ireland programme aims at providing both new and experienced exporters the chance to see for themselves the export potential in one of Britain's nearest European partners.

Ireland is UKTI's fifth largest market in Europe and fourth worldwide, with the total of UK trade in goods and services to Ireland being more than Brazil, Russia, India and China combined.

Delegates will receive experienced on-hand support from International Trade Advisor Ron Ingram, including bespoke business support (for an extra cost) and will be given the opportunity to pursue their own itineraries to other trade centres around Ireland.

Speaking about the Shoot for Ireland programme, Ron Ingram, UKTI North East International Trade Advisor said: "We are delighted to be partnering with the Foundation of Light, an organisation which reflects the ambitious, professional and pioneering values of UKTI.

"The North East business sector is one of the strongest in the UK and we are proud to be able to offer the opportunity for companies across the region to develop links with important and vibrant markets such as Ireland."

There is a registration fee of £100 per delegate to be paid on sign up to the Market Visit, with a £200 subvention offered per company.

To register, please contact the International Trade Hotline on 0845 0505054 or email enquiries@uktinortheast.org.uk for more information.

As part of the programme, delegates will be invited to attend a networking event at the Ambassador's Residence in Dublin along with in-market contacts and participants in the Foundation of Light's Dublin to Sunderland Cycle Challenge.

The D2S challenge will start on Tuesday 17th July at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, and finish five days later at the Sunderland Stadium of Light on Sunday 22nd July, taking in some breathtaking scenery along the Irish coast, across the dramatic Galloway Hills in Scotland, and along the imposing stretch of Hadrian's Wall.

To take part in the full challenge, riders are required to pay £250 deposit and pledge to raise a minimum of £1,250 sponsorship. This will cover the cost of accommodation, three meals a day, a D2S Challenge cycle shirt, support staff and vehicles, and riders will be invited to launch and celebration dinners at corresponding ends of the route.

For riders who would prefer to just take part in the Irish, Scottish or English legs of the Challenge the Foundation of Light is offering packages from just £300.

The Foundation of Light (formerly known as SAFC Foundation) is the registered charity of Sunderland AFC which works with more than 40,000 people every year.

The organisation uses the power of football to inspire, involve and educate children, families and adults across the North East through programmes that can improve their lives.

Structurally and financially independent of the football club the organisation relies on fundraising for 95% of project costs.
