Members enjoy exclusive event.Foundation of Light Corporate members and Sunderland AFC supporters joined the club's official charity at the annual Fixtures Breakfast event to welcome the announcement of the new season's Barclays Premier League fixtures.
The Black Cats kick-off their 2012-13 campaign with a trip to Arsenal on August 18th and those present were among the first in the country to receive the new season's fixtures as soon as they were released.
Guests were treated to breakfast and a Q&A session with SAFC Chief Executive Margaret Byrne, directors Gary Hutchinson (Commercial) and Mike Farnan (International and National Marketing) hosted by the BBC Television's Jeff Brown, before enjoying a tour of the Academy of Light, the club's state of the art training facility.
Among the hot topics discussed were manager Martin O'Neill's desire to establish SAFC as a major force in domestic and European football; the development of the clubs' international profile in Asia and Africa; and the club's continued commitment to attracting world-class musical talent to the Stadium of Light.Former Sunderland AFC captain Gary Bennett and 1973 FA Cup winner Dick Malone were also on hand to reflect on last season and look ahead to the new campaign.
Foundation of Light Chief Executive Lesley Spuhler commented on the event: "We are very thankful to Margaret, Gary and Mike for attending this year's Fixtures Breakfast, and for the club's continued support of the Foundation of Light.
"They provided a real insight into the running of the club and the guests welcomed the opportunity to put their questions to them.
